Troubleshooting Monitor Firmware Updates

If you're having issues updating your pHin Monitor's firmware please read through the following troubleshooting steps.

My pHin monitor does not blink when waking the monitor with a cap-swipe
It's important to hold the cap against the water drop for a moment and then move the cap to the right while keeping it against the monitor body. Please read the detailed cap-swipe instructions. The update process cannot continue until the cap-swipe is performed successfully.

The pHin App finds my pHin monitor but the update fails
Sometimes the pHin monitor leaves update mode before the update process can complete.

Skip through the monitor update instructions without cap-swiping your monitor. Instead, cap-swipe your monitor when you see the "Scanning for your Monitor" screen. Please ensure your mobile phone is within 1 to 3 feet of your pHin monitor. Being too close or too far can cause bluetooth connection issues. If you've tried these steps a few times and keep getting the same error, please reboot your phone and try again.

The pHin App never finds my pHin monitor even though it is blinking

General Tips

  • Hold the monitor about 1 to 3 feet away from your mobile phone while updating your monitor.
  • Turn off bluetooth for 15 seconds and then turn it back on.
  • Reboot your phone and try again.
  • If the plastic shipping cap falls out when you take off the end cap of the monitor, make sure that you don't screw it onto the bottom of the black tube. It's meant to be stored NEXT to the black tube and NOT ON IT when pHin is monitoring your pool or hot tub.
